Catch fabricated citations before they ship.
AI writing assistants routinely invent references that look real but don't exist. Paste any reference list below — we'll verify every citation against Crossref and flag the ones that are hallucinated, garbled, or unverifiable.
How it works
Parse
We extract the DOI, title, authors, and year from each reference you paste.
Look up
Each citation is checked against Crossref — the authoritative DOI registry for scholarly works.
Verdict
Verified, unverified, or likely hallucinated — with a reason you can act on.
Why this matters
AI-generated citations are a silent crisis in academic writing. Studies have documented hallucination rates as high as 30–50% in LLM-drafted reference lists — fake DOIs, invented authors, papers that simply don't exist. These errors slip past reviewers, end up in published work, and erode trust in the scholarly record.
Paiper Bridge is building the ground-truth layer for academic citation: a machine-readable registry that lets AI models retrieve real metadata instead of confabulating it. This verifier is the first public surface of that registry.
